Sophomore Phenom Katie Hirsch is continuing her climb in the Perry-Lecompton Track record books with a dominant 4A Regional performance that netted her 2 school records and another trip to the 4A State Track Meet.
Katie ran a 2:25.1 800m at regionals and to break Sarah Paul's 1998 school record of 2:26.2 and her remarkable finish in the 1600m, clocking in at 5:29.2 broke her aunt, Sarah Hirsch's 19 year old record of 5:31.2
Katie also hold the school record in the 3200m of 12:15.3 set in 2007.
" What more can you say about her performances? She has put in the work and was poised for a big breakout meet and it came at a great time of the year. She ran strong in a very competitive field and it's really something to hold all three distance records, quite an accomplishment. The 1600m record was 19 years old and was held by her aunt. So she at least keeps it in the family, " said Head Girl's Track Coach Justin Smith.
