Orientation Available for Students Going to New Buildings
by J.B. Elliott
Orientation for new 5th graders and PLMS began on August 7th with an Open House and self guided tour. Students and parents were given locker combinations and toured the building at their leisure. Student PLMS Ambassadors, Anna and Lillian Seib, provided answers from a student prospective and guided students and parents around the building.
On August 12th, PLHS will host a Freshman/New Student Orientation Night, from 6:30 - 8:30. During this evening, staff members will offer lots of information about classes, rules and activities and more that will help new students transition successfully to PLHS! All faculty and administration will be present, allowing you a chance to meet the entire staff. If you have a student attending PLHS for the first time, we wish to strongly encourage you and your student to attend this event!
On August 19th PLMS will open its doors to back-to-school Orientation Night. Parents and students will meet in the gymnasium at 6:00 p.m. for introductions to the building staff and pertinent school information. Parents will then be given the opportunity to meet their child’s PE, Vocal Music, and Band teachers and tour the building. The evening will end in classrooms as classroom teachers discuss expectations, describe a typical school day, and answer questions from parents. Mr. Landis, Mr. Woodward, and Mrs. Hupe will also be available throughout the evening to meet with parents and answer questions.
